This course explores the foundations of precolonial African civilizations, focusing on the development of key kingdoms in Uganda and the broader East African region. Learners will trace the origins, political structures, and social systems of influential societies such as Buganda, Bunyoro, Ankole, and Karagwe.
The course also examines the interlacustrine region’s historical importance and the factors that led to the rise and decline of these powerful kingdoms. Through historical analysis and engaging lessons, students will gain a deeper understanding of how African societies were organized long before colonial contact.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
